The Nantou County Government launched the "Nantou Happiness GO" transportation service in Zhushan, Lugu, and Mingjian townships. From September to December 5 this year, a total of 3,214 trips were provided, with 9,846 passengers served. The county government announced today that the service is officially operational and will begin charging fares from December 16 to ensure sustainable operations.
Designed to meet the daily needs of rural residents, including commuting to school, medical appointments, and shopping, the service began trial operations in September. It offers flexible, on-demand pick-up and drop-off services in areas without public bus routes or during periods when no buses are available for over an hour. At today’s opening ceremony, the county government announced that the service will officially start charging fares on December 16.
According to the Nantou County Transportation Management Office, from September to December 5, the service accumulated 3,214 trips, with a total of 9,846 passengers and a driving distance of 39,860 kilometers. Each trip averaged over three passengers. To ensure sustainable operations, a distance-based fare system will be implemented, with a maximum of three fare stages. The full fare is NT$25 within 8 kilometers, while the discounted fare is NT$13. Seniors aged 65 and above can use elder cards for discounts.
The Transportation Management Office also stated that service adjustments will be made based on user demand. Starting December 10, the fixed route from Zhushan to Linnei will shift to a flexible schedule during weekdays, avoiding bus schedules and accommodating reservations. Additionally, for passengers needing transportation to other counties, the "Nantou Happiness GO" service center offers transfer information and connections to intercity buses.
